“Being in Jane Adeny has nurtured me to be strong and determined and as I complete my studies in high school I would like to be one who people can always depend on just as you have helped in financing my studies.”
— C., Class of 2019
This year, our annual fundraiser takes place on the International Day of the Girl! Come sample Kenyan food and music, participate in a Silent Auction and a Fair Trade Market, and celebrate the successes of the school! You’ll also be able to meet volunteers who’ve recently returned from JAMS with first-hand stories to tell.
All proceeds will benefit the girls at Jane Adeny Memorial School for Girls (JAMS) through scholarships and through support of extracurricular activities and improvement of facilities at the school.
When JAMS began, founders Teresa Wasonga and Andrew Otieno had the long-term goal of having at least half the student body on scholarship. This year, 2019, was the first year that Friends of JAMS achieved the goal of providing scholarships for at least half the Form One (9th grade) students. Can we do it again this year? Help us achieve our goal of raising at least 20 new scholarships for the Class of 2023, who will enter JAMS in January 2020.
Donations of any amount to the Scholarship Fund will be greatly appreciated. Those who can donate a half ($400/year) or full ($800/year) scholarship will receive letters and grade reports from their students. Or maybe you and family members or friends can go in together to sponsor a student. And if you already sponsor a student, the fundraiser is a great time to renew your scholarship for 2020!
The students and teachers at JAMS will also be thankful for support of the library, the new computer lab, and extracurricular activities.
Thanks to generous donor support over the past two years, our goal of furnishing the new Resource Center has been achieved. Now our new goal is to raise funds to buy books for the expanded library and to pay for internet fees for 2020 and beyond.
Each year, JAMS girls participate in sports, music, academic competitions, and field trips. This year, the new JAMS Ukulele Ensemble went to nationals! Can you help us send the girls on trips to tournaments, competitions, and national parks? Such trips expand the world for girls who until now have not traveled further than their village market.
Come have fun AND help educate girls and transform the world!
