Save the date! Give DeKalb County is coming up on May 4.

Your gift will be increased by a percentage of the Bonus Pool provided by the DeKalb County Community Foundation. For example, if we raise 5% of the total Give DeKalb County donations, Friends of JAMS will receive 5% of the Bonus Pool.

Donations of any amount through Give DeKalb County are much appreciated and will go to the JAMS Scholarship Fund to provide an “education good enough for the richest, open to the poorest.”

If you already give a scholarship, please consider renewing your scholarship through Give DeKalb County and helping us earn a bonus.

Two ways to give: by mail or online.

  • Donations by mail must be postmarked between April 20 and May 4. Download a donation form HERE and print it. Complete the form indicating the organization(s), and donation amount(s), then write a single check for the total amount payable to “DCCF.” Checks can be mailed to DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore, IL 60178.
  • Donations online can be made from midnight to midnight on May 4 HERE.

The new Class of 2026 scholarship students entered JAMS in early February

Why scholarships? The results are tremendously positive and the need is high, especially given recent global economic disruptions.

  • In Kenya, even public high schools charge fees and room and board, preventing many young people from completing high school.
  • Every year of school achieved increases the health and prosperity of a girl’s family and her community as well as herself.
  • Boarding school provides three meals a day and security to girls living in poverty. Just walking to school can be dangerous for girls in many places.
  • JAMS vets all scholarship applicants to make sure precious funds go to those truly in need.
  • JAMS believes in the potential of girls and has invested in up-to-date science labs, computer lab, and library–thanks to the generosity of our donors.
  • With a 100% graduation rate, JAMS gives young women in need a promising future.

Your generosity transforms the lives of these bright, determined girls! Curriculum, teaching methods, school governance, and living conditions at JAMS are designed to empower girls to succeed academically and develop effective life skills and leadership qualities. This approach is working. The JAMS graduation rate is 100% and ALL grads have qualified to go on to university or vocational college! You can learn more about how JAMS Scholarships change lives on our website HERE.

We deeply appreciate our donors’ generosity which helped us exceed our goal last year. Please help us reach this year’s goal of $25,000 and make Give DeKalb County a success for JAMS again this year!

Thank you! Asante sana!
