Help Fill the Bookshelves!
The DeKalb County, Illinois, annual day of giving is coming up on May 7.
We know that many of you are giving more to local causes this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we hope you include JAMS in your giving as well. Education remains the single best way to invest in the future well-being of developing countries like Kenya; excellent schools will be needed more than ever when the pandemic subsides.
There are two ways to give (see below). Either way, your gift will earn Friends of JAMS a percentage of the bonus pool provided by the DeKalb County Community Foundation!
In 2020, Friends of JAMS is raising funds to provide books for the new Library in the Resource Center which was just completed. We aim to provide JAMS students with a library in which they can pursue their interests, do research, and prepare for future success.
Surprising as it may seem, Kenyan high school students typically do not have access to books, other than class textbooks which they often must share two or three students to one book. A well-equipped and student-accessible library is a resource that makes JAMS innovative and sets a standard of excellence for western Kenya.
In 2019, you helped us furnish the Resource Center and Computer Lab with computers, desks, tables, chairs, and bookshelves. Thank you!
This year, please help us fill those bookshelves!
Two ways to give:
- Online HERE from 12:00 a.m. to midnight on Thursday May 7
- By mail postmarked between April 16 and May 7. Visit Give DeKalb County homepage and download and print a donation form. Complete the form indicating the organization(s), and donation amount(s), then write a single check for the total amount payable to “DCCF.” Checks can be mailed to DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore, IL 60178.
Many thanks, asante sana, for your generous support!
