Students displaying new library books in front of the Resource Center

Generous donors came through again this year to transform the lives of the bright, determined girls who attend JAMS!  94 of you gave over $35,000 to the Scholarship Fund and earned us over $5,000. Thank you, donors!

The new Class of 2026 scholarship students entered JAMS in early February

These gifts renew scholarships for some students who were already attending JAMS AND make it possible for us to offer seven four-year pre-paid scholarships to needy girls in the Class of 2027, who will enter JAMS in January 2024.

Why are scholarships for Kenyan girls to attend high school so important?

  • In Kenya, even public high schools charge fees and room and board, preventing many young people from completing high school.
  • Every year of school achieved increases the health and prosperity of a girl’s future children and her community as well as herself. UNICEF calls this the “double dividend” from investing in girls.
  • Boarding school provides three meals a day and security to girls living in poverty. Just walking to school can be dangerous for girls in many places.

The Resource Center houses the library, computer libray, meeting rooms, and teachers' offices

Why is JAMS succeeding?

  • JAMS vets all scholarship applicants to make sure precious funds go to those truly in need.
  • Curriculum, teaching methods, school governance, and living conditions at JAMS are designed to empower girls to succeed academically and develop effective life skills and leadership qualities.
  • JAMS believes in the potential of girls and has invested in up-to-date science labs, computer lab, and library–thanks to the generosity of our donors.
  • With a 100% graduation rate, JAMS gives young women in need a promising future.
