Jane Adeny Memorial School for Girls

  • JAMS began in 2011 with 12 students.
  • In 2025, 168 girls attend JAMS.
  • JAMS has achieved a 100% graduation rate since the first graduating class of 2014.
  • 100% of JAMS graduates have qualified for higher education since 2019, while the national average is about 35%.
  • 86% of all JAMS graduates have gone on to higher education, 60% to university and 26% to vocational and technical institutes.

Friends of Jane Adeny Memorial School for Girls

Friends of JAMS began operations as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2014. As of the Class of 2024, 136 young women have graduated from JAMS thanks to full scholarships from Friends of JAMS.

We have also funded:

  • The Sparks Science Building with 3 fully equipped laboratory classrooms
  • A rainwater catchment system
  • A solar-powered water pump for the well drilled by Rotary International
  • A campus-wide solar power system that operates 24/7/365
  • Furnishings and supplies for the Resource Center, Wehrmeister Library, Computer Lab, and Sparks Science labs
  • Textbooks and school supplies
  • A poultry operation, piggery, greenhouse, bakery, and tailoring workshop
  • Ten units of teacher housing

2011 – No organized extracurricular activities 2025 – JAMS students participate in interscholastic soccer and volleyball; debate, science, choral and arts competitions.
2011 – Science classes held in small classroom with limited lab equipment. 2018 – Sparks Science Building opens with three labs and storage rooms for supplies.
2011 – Unused classroom serves as teachers’ office and reception area. 2020 – Resource Center opens, housing library, computer lab, offices and community room.
2011 – 2023 – JAMS campus muddy throughout the rainy season. 2024 – Paths and drive paved, 20 outdoor benches added for studying and socializing.
2013 – JAMS strengthens community relationships, selling bread and produce during student holidays. 2024 – JAMS Resource Center hosts community activities, invites local schools to use its library and science labs.
2014-15 – Tomkins Dairy built; provides food and teaches skills to students. 2024 – Poultry, pigs, sheep, and greenhouses produce food and teach agriculture and business skills.
2014 – Friends of JAMS supplied $39,250. 2023 – Friends of JAMS supplied $192,873.

Looking ahead, Friends of JAMS is raising funds for continued growth and success at JAMS!

More Students

More scholarships as enrollment increases, outfitting the new dormitory (beds, linens, furnishings, solar electricity), uniforms, books, equipment, computers, and supplies for extra-curricular activities.

Sustainability

Environmental initiatives to increase sustainability and reduce costs, such as solar-powered electricity, biogas from livestock waste, and water conservation and management.
