“I don’t know how to thank you for accepting to pay my school fees but I think by hard work and giving you good results will be a good thank you.”
“Thank you for opening my eyes for good future. Truthfully speaking, you have made me to see the future.”
— Scholarship students to their sponsors, 2021
Your donation to Friends of JAMS will help provide a high school education designed to nurture young women who will lead their communities toward prosperity and social justice. If not for Jane Adeny Memorial School, our students would not be in high school at all. With only an eighth-grade education, they would face lives of poverty, hard physical labor, early marriage, and little self-determination.
Approximately 96% of all funds raised go to educating the girls. Friends of JAMS has minimal overhead and all the work for the organization is done by our volunteer Board Members.
Friends of JAMS (EIN# 32-0436873) is exempt from federal income tax under 26 U.S.C. Section 501(c)(3), and is a non-profit organization eligible to receive tax-deductible donations. Each donation to Friends of JAMS is tax-deductible to the extent allowed under applicable law.

1. General Fund
Unrestricted donations to the General Fund allow us to allocate resources most efficiently to fund needs as they arise, whether new textbooks or lab equipment, medical fees for taking students to the doctor, or the electric bill because it rained for a month and we didn’t have enough solar power.
2. The Scholarship Fund
The Scholarship Fund provides scholarships directly to girls who would not otherwise be able to attend high school. Donations of any amount are very welcome and make a difference. A scholarship for one school year is $800. If you donate a half scholarship ($400) or a whole scholarship ($800), you will receive letters and report cards from the student you are sponsoring, unless you tell us you would prefer not to become a renewing sponsor.

What is a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) provides donors with a centralized charitable giving vehicle. It allows philanthropically inclined individuals, families, and corporations to make an irrevocable charitable gift to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program and take an immediate tax deduction.
How does it work?
- Establish a Donor Advised Fund by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to an organization that sponsors a DAF program.
- Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets (any investment growth is tax-free).
- Recommend grants to qualified public charities of your choice.
- There is no cost to establish a DAF but there are often minimum initial contributions to establish the DAF.
- Once approved, 100% of your contribution goes to your qualified public charity of choice.
MATCHING GIFTS
Ask your employer if they will match your donation.
Double or triple the impact of your gift! Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, contact your benefits director. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer and send the completed, signed form with your gift to Friends of JAMS. We will do the rest. Some companies also match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.
